By Milo Baughman
For Thayer Coggin
Designed by Milo Baughman and produced by Thayer Coggin in the 1970's the "Archie" High Back Lounge Chair features a striking and sculptural solid walnut frame with a sleek silhouette and a unique back panel of gently curved walnut.
The walnut frame will be refinished in the Danish Modern Design workshop (See the restoration page). The cushions have been recovered in a cool soft velvet with a "Mod" repeating circle pattern. We can re-do the cushions and the cushion covering to your specifications (before delivery) at additional cost if you wish!

Milo Baughman (1923-2003) was a visionary in modern design, recognized as one of the most influential furniture designers of the 20th century. His distinctly American creations are innovative yet approachable, characterized by a relaxed and timeless elegance that continues to inspire designers globally. Baughman's philosophy centered on the belief that good design is enduring design. His disciplined approach avoided fleeting trends, resulting in pieces that are unapologetically modern while maintaining classic good taste. From 1953 to 2003, Baughman partnered with Thayer Coggin to craft designs that defined mid-century modern American furniture. His work has been celebrated in prestigious exhibitions, including "Good Design" at MoMA and "High Styles: Twentieth Century American Design" at the Whitney Museum of American Art. In 1987, he was honored with the Distinguished Design Award. Credit: Thayer Coggin Furniture Company.
